Montana State University – Applied Research Lab (ARL)

Montana State University (MSU) is approaching nearly two decades of execution on export controlled and classified projects, which has culminated in MSU’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) that will be completed in January 2020. The ARL is a classified research facility that will handle projects at every national security classification level, to include Secret, Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Q-clearance for Department of Energy (DoE). The ARL also allows for MSU to provide student opportunities to obtain security clearances and programmatic experience using waterfall, agile, and Dev Ops development approaches that will lead to a pipeline for the U.S. government, defense primes, and national labs. The goals of the ARL are to expand both research and education, while promoting economic development and bolstering MSU’s student opportunities by providing cleared, experienced graduates.
