Precision controllers for thermoelectrics, qcls, & laser diodes

Job description

Wavelength Electronics designs and manufactures precision electronics for critical Laser Systems. Our drivers are used in challenging applications like surgery, medical tests, dangerous chemical detectors, climate research – and other technology that significantly improves lives. What we do matters in the world.

We’re looking for someone to operate one of the Surface Mount (SMT) lines. This includes three different machines: solder stenciling, part placement, and reflow. A picture of the line is under the “Reliable Manufacturing Complements High Performance Design” heading on our company page: https://www.teamwavelength.com/company-info/.  We solder electronics parts smaller than a flake of pepper! Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, at our automated, clean manufacturing facility. We are constantly experimenting with new processes and upgrading our capabilities. We will train the right person.

Benefits include competitive wages, paid health insurance premiums (100% for employee AND dependents), HSA contribution, 401k, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays, and an excellent working environment.

The team you’d be joining is well trained, takes pride in their work, and comes to work with a smile. Individuals have autonomy over their work with support for questions and brainstorming from senior members of the team. This role is an opportunity to gain high-tech, hands-on skills in a friendly, respectful environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position has several core responsibilities performed under minimal supervision once trained:

  • Program and operate the SMT line – stencil printer, pick-and-place machine, oven – and accurately follow the Assembly Instructions to meet schedule once trained.
  • Hand place or hand solder parts the pick-and-place machine can’t pick up.
  • Meet IPC quality standards to maintain our 0.1% RMA rate.
  • Troubleshoot machines with support from the manufacturing engineer.

Education and Experience

  • Ideally have a two-year technical degree & two years related experience – or equivalent practical experience
  • Knowledge of hand soldering and solder rework equipment a plus
  • Knowledge of IPC standards a plus

You’ll love working at Wavelength if you are…

A Builder: You love to build things with your hands and operate precision machinery.

Accurate: You complete your work and then self-check.

Attentive to detail: You will catch when the machines are misbehaving.

Dependable: You love being part of a team.

Deliberate: You follow instructions but are not afraid to suggest process improvements.

Personable: You are professional with both written and verbal communication. You are positive, sociable and earn the trust of the team.

Playful: You have fun while working hard. We laugh and celebrate wins as a team.
